The Saddlery Way
Made by Hand. Built to Last.
Every piece that leaves our workshop carries 150 years of accumulated knowledge.
Our Philosophy
We don't make things to sell. We make things to last.
In an age of mass production and disposable goods, we've chosen a different path. Every saddle, every hat, every buckle that leaves our workshop in Salina, Utah is made the way it's always been made — by hand, by craftspeople who've spent years mastering their trade.
We believe that the things you use every day should be worthy of being passed down. That quality isn't a luxury — it's a responsibility. And that there's no shortcut to doing something right.
The Process
How a Burns Saddle is Made

01
The Tree
Every Burns saddle begins with a hand-built wooden tree, shaped to fit your horse and rigged for the work ahead. The foundation is everything.

02
The Leather
Full-grain skirting leather is hand-selected for grain, weight, and temper. Each piece is cut by hand and prepared for tooling.

03
The Tooling
Floral patterns, basket stamps, and custom designs are tooled into the leather by hand — the same techniques our craftsmen have used for generations.

04
The Finish
Sterling silver conchos, hand-stitched seams, and a final fitting check ensure every saddle that leaves our workshop meets the Burns standard.

Hats
Shaped by Hand, One at a Time
Each crown is blocked on wooden forms that have shaped hats for over a century. Each brim is curved to your specifications. No two are ever quite the same.
