Since 1876, every Burns hat has been shaped by hand in our Salina, Utah workshop. Our master hatter brings over 35 years of craft to every crown — steaming, shaping, and finishing each piece the same way we've done it for six generations.
This isn't mass production. It's one hatter, one hat, one customer at a time.
Step One — Foundation
Start With Fit.
Size determines how a hat settles, balances, and wears over time. A proper fit should feel secure — never tight, never loose.
- Use a soft measuring tape (or string you can measure after)
- Measure around your head where the hat naturally sits — about 1" above your eyebrows
- Keep the tape level and snug, not tight
- Measure twice for accuracy

A Note on Head Shape
Burns hats are built on a standard oval. If you have a rounder head shape, we recommend sizing up 1/8" or contacting our hat specialist for guidance. When in doubt, our Perfect Fit Guarantee has you covered.
